When I was pregnant with Grace we had only been in San Diego for a year, and I didn’t know many people. I had only one friend with a baby and unfortunately she lived in northern california. It was then, back in early 2015, I found myself reading and becoming interested in different blogs about maternity, motherhood, and life in general. It was nice to get advice and recommendations from other new moms. And that is exactly why I wanted to start this blog. My hope is to create this online space to share what I’ve learned, some things that make our life as a busy young family easier, and a few things I find beautiful and inspiring. This blog is simply a creative outlet for me, which makes it fun and honest because nothing is sponsored. Everything you read is my own opinion, mostly topics and things I would discuss with my best friends over coffee or tea. And that’s exactly how I invision friends reading my blog, curled up on the couch with a cozy blanket and a cup of their favorite hot caffeineted beverage on a slow Saturday morning.
In December, my mom bought me a fawn design bag for my birthday and it was love at first wear. Having a bag that allows me to be hands-free while chasing around my little one changed my world for the better and now, I can’t imagine going back! Plus, it’s just so pretty. Below are all the things we usually pack it up with for a fun filled day with 20-month-old Grace Elizabeth.
Diapers and wipes of course! We’ve tried almost every brand of diaper and wipes in the past 20 months. The honest wipes are definitely the best! As for diapers, we go back and forth between honest and costco. The honest ones are cuter and costco diapers are more cost effective. Naturally, if I’m shopping I buy honest and if it’s Bryan, he’s definitely buying the costco diapers.
A water cup. We’ve also tried and used a handful of sippy cups since Grace was 6 months and this one from Think Baby is probably her favorite. We also use something similar to these. And we recently introduced these cups which are great for training the littles how to drink from a big kid cup.
Hand sanitizer for those situations where you may be stuck and unable to get to a sink to wash your hands. Also, to clean Grace’s hands a zillion times throughout the winter months during cold and flu season.
SNACKSSSS!!! For everyone’s sanity there must be snacks! We almost always pack a couple whole milk organic cheese sticks (that we buy from Coscto), some organic raisins, Annie’s white cheddar bunnies, tangerines, or if I have time I cut up some fruit or a cucumber for her and put in one of her snack bowls (not pictured). Another favorite snack of G’s that we usually carry but isn’t pictured above are the Bitsy’s Brainfood sweet potato oatmeal raisin cookies.
Sunscreen. I carry sunscreen year round though it’s not actually pictured above. We have used Honest Sunscreen in the past but it is pretty greasy and always made Grace look like she was sweaty. This year we’re using the beauty counter sunscreen for the whole family.
An extra set of clothes, a sweatshirt, and a hat! In the summer we’re always carrying one of these hats around (for it’s UPF protection) and in the winter we always pack this one from Hanna Andersson. We almost always have this favorite sweatshirt of hers in the bag too!
A small squeaker rattle. If you’re as obsessed with taking pictures of your little one as I am, this will come in handy when trying to get them to smile and look at the camera. A little book like this one (not pictured) is nice to have too because they’re tiny and great in situations when you need to entertain them with something.
Our bag is much lighter now than it was when we were toting around breastmik, bottles (these and Dr. Bown were our favorites), and a small cooler pack to keep the milk cold. We also use to carry baby spoons that doubled as teethers, baby food pouches (you can also buy them individually at whole foods and walmart), mum mums, swaddles, bibs and a nursing cover everywhere we went when she was still a little babe.
Would love to hear what you tote around to make your life easier!! Comment below and let me know what I’m missing out on!
